For the candidates who have passed their respective 10th educational standard the Indian Army offers various trades and the opportunity for the candidates to be recruited for the Indian Army through the recruitment that are held in various regions depending the schedule as set.

The candidates will be eligible to apply for the trades of the Indian Army Jobs After 10th Pass, that are mention below:-

1). Soldier (GD):- Candidates will be required to have at-least 45% in aggregate and 33% in each of the subjects.
Age limit for Soldier DG Candidates is between the age of 17 years 6 months to 21 years.

2). Tradesman:- For the tradesman the candidates are required to be atleast 10th pass(all arms except syce,mess keeper and house keeper).

And for the candidates who have 8th passed qualification they are eligible to apply for the syce,mess keeper and house keeper post of the tradesman trade.
The age limit for every tradesman branch is set between the age of 17 years and 6 months to 23 years.

2).Clerk/SKT:- Candidates who have passed their 12th standard from any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce) with 60% in aggregate and 50% in each subjects of English, Maths, Accounts. Between the age of 17 years and 6 months to the age 23 years is the age limit for this trade.

3).Nursing Assistant:- Candidates have passed their 12th standard in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English with minimum 50% in aggregate and 40% in each of the subjects are eligible to apply for this trade.Candidates with higher education of Bsc. with compulsory subjects of Botany,Zoology,Bio-Science and English are eligible for this post. Age limit for this trade is between the age of 17 years and 6 months to 23 years.

4).Soldier Technical:- The trade offers the candidates to apply for the three major branches under this trade which requires distinct eligibility for the candidates to qualify:-
However the age limit for every branch of the trade will be the same which is betweeen the age of 17 years and 6 months to the age 23 years.

a).Soldier Technical:- Candidates with 12th standard exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% in aggregate and 40% in each subjects.

b).Ammunition & c).Aviation/Army Air Defense:- The candidates will be required to have passed their intermediate exams in Science with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% in aggregate and 40% in each subjects.

Candidates with three year Diploma Engg.(Mechanical/Electrical/Automobiles/Computer Science Mechanical Engg. and Electronic and Instrumentation Engg) from any recognized Polytechnic Institute.

5).JCO (Catering):- The candidates are required to have passed their 12th educational standards with a Diploma/Certificate Course of Cookery/Hotel Management and Catering Technology with a minimum of course duration one year form a recognize University/Food Craft Institute. The age limit for the candidates who will be applying for this trade is within 21 years to 27 years.

6).Sports Person:- Candidates who have higher level of sports certificates are eligible to apply through the sports section, however the candidates who have  achieved 1st and 2nd position in the national, state, district, educational level are selected. Candidates will required to be between the age of 17 years and 6 months to 21 years at the day of recruitment.

Candidates who are found to be eligible under each of the criteria as per the prescribed requirement for the various trade  and each candidates are to clear the latter selection process that will be conducted by the selection board authorities.

Every selection process will be responsible for the shortlisting of the candidates based on the criteria for every selection test that make the entire recruitment held of the selection of new batch of service men. Indian Army Requirement Selection Process 2018


The various selection process are based on different criteria and the cadets are selected based on these criteria which are mentioned below:-

  1. Physical Test/Physical Standards
  2. Medical Test
  3. Written Exam
  4. Merit Test

In order to be selected the candidates must clear under the each of the above mentioned test based on their criteria which will as per the prescribed requirements by the selection board.

To qualify under every test is mandatory for the candidates if the individual is unable to clear any of these test then he will no longer be eligible to take on the further selection process as conducted.

1).Physical Test/Physical Standard:-

This test are the first phase of the selection test and are conducted on the basis of the physical criteria that are required.It is also considered to be the physical fitness test to test the physical fitness of the candidates and physical standards such as in terms of height, weight and chest measurement are also done.

The physical test comprises of physical task such as running, pull ups, balancing which the candidates must complete within the given time and in a proper manner. The marks will be according to the task completed by the individuals in the space of time,however the time  will be limited therefore the candidates should be careful to complete the tasks within the time limit.

Candidates will be offered some relaxation in terms of physical standards such as in height, weight and chest set according to the region the candidates belong to.

2).Medical test:- 

The medical test is the selection process that focus on the medical criteria and are conducted to examine the medical status of the candidates and the medical standards.It is a very sensitive test for which the candidates must be medically fit in order to clear this test.

Candidates who are declared to be medically unfit will be no longer shortlisted for the next following phase of the selection process. The medical test is conducted based on the medical criteria such as the medical status, health, mental health, eye sight, oral health etc. which are the absolute criteria as prescribed for the medical requirements.

3).Written Exam:- 

The candidates who are shortlisted will have to appear the written examination for their selection which will be based upon the intelligence ability of the candidates over the syllabus and the topics that are prescribed for the written exam.

The written exam for various trades will be conducted upon the various syllabus and topics that have been prescribed for each and every trade because these syllabus will vary among the trades.
Some of the general syllabus and topics will cover the General Knowledge, General Science, English.

The written exam will be based on objective questions and there will be negative marking scheme for incorrect answer,the candidates will have to score the minimum passing marks in terms of each section and inn overall pattern.Failing to score the minimum passing marks in terms of each subjects or in aggregate will result in disqualification of the candidates.

4).Merit List:- 

The merit list is the final selection stage where the candidates will mot be required to appear any sort of test but the merit list will shortlist the candidates who have been selected as the final list of the candidates. The candidates will be shortlisted based on the score and their performance during the entire selection process and those candidates who have performed well and have scored higher marks will be shortlisted in the merit list.

Therefore in order to be selected for the list of candidates in the merit list the candidates will require to perform at their highest level during the selection process. Candidates who have been shortlisted in the merit list will then be dispatched for their training which will be for 9 months and the candidates will have to complete this training to be commissioned under the Indian Army.
